One last thing...
about mobile phones, do not every buy or use the LG Viewty KU990. This phone was given to me by a friend. It is in storage for spare use and it is not user friendly. Although the reviews about its camera is great but the user interface is so difficult to use. Never ever get one!!!You cannot download Google Mail, Google Maps and other application software on this piece of crap. I struggled with the touch screen being not sensitive enough or is it my fingers which are big. LG should stop producing phones and concentrate on household electronics which they are good at. I do own a LG LCD tv and a HTS. They are good for entry level products and not bad at all. Mobile phones, nah, don't touch!!! I don't know why Jeff Ooi gave it such good remarks on this piece of junk?

Anthony Bourdain Omnibus: Kitchen Confidential , A Cook's Tour by Anthony Bourdain

You can laugh and cry at the same time... Reading this book gives you a left wing opiniated cook who loves adventure, living the ragged life and enjoying food. I love Bourdain's television series, 'A Cook's Tour' and his misadventures with food.
This book is a 2 in 1 book from Bourdain. It starts off with his experiences in the kitchen as a dishwasher and how he became a chef. He has very interesting stories to tell which you can almost relate to if you work in a kitchen or if you like cooking. Cooking is a skill and a craft. It is not some food that you put together but rather a blend of ingredients put together for that final product in taste, presentation and indulgence.
His writing is very straight forward, very left winged thinking, and very basic. He has no qualms about telling the truth and realities of what goes on in the kitchen. I guess it kind of confirmed everything that I have been through and witness whilst working in a commercial kitchen as a cook.
10/10 for a damn piece of literature.
The dawn of the Blackberry Era...
I often get mixed up between Blackberry and Blueberry and even Burberry. Sigh. I just wasn't cool enough to differentiate the 3 types of labels. Of the 3 of them, 2 are fruits, 1 is a designer brand, and 1 of the 2 is a mobile device.
My mobile phones last me for a very long time. The first one I bought with my own money was a Nokia 3210 which I got it for RM800, a lot of money in 1999. It lasted me through to 2004, 5 years. It was still usuable when I decided to change. One thing memorable about this phone was it has no antena and your could change the covers to any colors you like. There were a lot of after market covers with different shapes and sizes.
Then in 2004, I bought a Nokia 3650 for RM1700, also a lot of money at that time. The first mobile phone which can do video shoots and also camera shoots, very canggih at that time. Even the memory card was 16MB one, the best in its category. The cover panels for this phone was interchangable and I broke a lot of piece, always replacing it with new ones. It was a good phone and it is still usable.
Then in 2007, I changed my mobile to a Sony Erricsons K810i for RM1200. It was definitely cheaper than my old Nokia brand new and I was amazed at the Sony's user interface. Nokia somehow dropped their game in user friendliness and Sony Erricsons overtook them by a mile. The camera came with a 3.2 MP camera which was the best at that point of time because it incorporated Sony's Cybershot camera software and hardware into the phone. Pictures was great and generally good quality. I went on holiday with it to Paris, India, Bali and even Brussels. No qualms about the picture quality. It even beats my wife's Nokia N95 5MP phone in terms of picture compositioning, color and exposure.Somehow, I am a very rough sort of person. Taking my phone everywhere I go, even into the shower and damp places. The phone somehow gave up on me just slightly after 2 years. poor quality build as compared to the Nokia 3650 which went a full immersion of water baptism from me. The screen gave up on me, the keypads wasn't working and the phone was wonky... In England, there isn't any Ah Beng handphone shops where you can take it in and repair. So there is no way, someone wanna touch your already kaput phone and make it worse. Consumer protection is at its best here in English land...
So I decided that I go for the Blackberry 9000 with 3G, WiFi and some other cool stuff bundled along with it. It could do multiple applications at one go which I still find it fun and amazing. No regrets except it has a 2MP camera and the battery life is not so good. I am hoping to use this piece of technology for a long long time before I change to another toy. I am still not appealed by the i-Phone from Apple because of its mono-application usage. I hope that day will come when Steve Jobs finally give his input into that stately piece of art and improve it.

Wimbeldon
It was fun, warm, sunny and the wait was long. You could hear players all around the courts moaning furiously hitting the ball in coital pleasure outwitting their opponents. It was great fun crashing into a traditionally elitist sports where the cocky rich Lords mixing with ordinary serfs and peasants sharing the same space, breathing the same air and cheering for Andy Murray. It was an experience of a lifetime.
Wimbeldon as I know it was only on TV is where the tennis championships are held for an elite boys and girls trashing each other in a court watched by thousands of people. Although left wing as I may sound, it was some good fun experiencing the daylight robbery of the entrance fee which is £20 per person and the over priced drinks, food and souvenoirs.

One has got to be a looney to queue up just to enter to Wimbeldon grounds. We arrived at 830am and only got into the grounds at 1130am. Not too bad sitting under the hot sunny summer sun, at about 30 degrees celcius. Well, I was just as looney as my wife would have been just to see 2 fellas playing ball. We thought we wanted to start the day at 530am and getting out of the house by 600am. It didn't happen. We were out at 730am and only managed to get in the dole line at 830am. Then it was a witless long wait until 1130am. There were massive crowds of peasants and serfs trying to climb up the social ladder like us to go watch the games, hoping to catch a glimps of Fed Ex, Murray and the Williams...

Entering the grounds was an experience. You are met by the Centre Court entrance and the massive crowd around the area. There was bars and cafe robbing visitors of their money for food which cost less than £1 to produce. A lot of stupid people, or more like desperate people wanting a cold beer in the hot sun, willing to part with their money on top of the £20 entrance fee. It didn't work well for me because I was knocked off by the lager and took a long nap on Mount Murray.
We then saw this Jap chick playing orgasmic tennis... moaning at every strike of the racquet. Interesting game and very professional players here. I managed to watched 2 Thais playing at Wimbeldon and wondering where the heck are the Malaysian players? I guess we don't produce any good sports apart from Silat because of the silly politicians and their politiking.

The closest we got to see was Tommy Haas and Igor Andreev. The game was good and exciting and it was free because it was at court 3. You would have to pay top ££££ to get into Centre Court, Court 1 & 2 and the closest we was the score boards of Fed Ex and one of the Williams playing. The queue for the resale tickets were long and endless... gave up even before we start lining up.

Then there was the live radio broadcasting matches on the airwaves...
We decided to go home and watch Andy Murray's match... TV is still the greatest media. I do not think I will miss much watching any live games since the TV has good angle views and close ups of the games.

Working as a Cook...
I thought it was easy working as a cook but it was the other way... it is mainly warming and defrosting frozen precooked meals and putting it together. Nothing is fresh except the garnishes and nothing to prepare like chopping, peeling, cutting, skinning, etc... tough work man!
